RE: Changing a Family Traditon

When our son turned 3 we decided to create our own family tradition and started renting cabins or heading to the beach in Mexico. He is now 15 and his sister is 7 and we have camped in our trailer every Thanksgiving since we bought it a few years ago. Last year was the exception since my folks came into town...... so we stayed home. It was fun but we all agreed to head back out on the road for Thanksgiving this year.
My parents have never minded and love the fact that we are creating memories and traditions with our children....of course they always add "We better see you at Christmas or else!!!" :B
We are already booked for this Thanksgiving and cant wait! Have fun!

RE: Memory foam toppers for SOFA BEDS...

We have a 2 jack-knife sofas. I bought a king size Walmart brand memory foam then cut it down the middle. It fits both almost perfect. The kids says it makes a big difference. It is only about 2 inches and I just roll them up and store them on the top bunk when not in use.

RE: Let My Neighbor Borrow/Rent My TT?

No way. There is too much that could go wrong and I would not want that burden on him if something happened. I would invite him out one weekend while your camping....share dinner, fishing, let him look at other trailers in the park. Then if he is interested hand him a list with places that rent or sale.
That is what we did with some friends and they bought one within a month and now we have a blast camping together! :B

RE: Locked out....

My daughter & I got locked in on our first trip in the trailer. DH and son went to the store while we were napping. Woke up and could not get out. :S I guess he had turned both locks. Funny part was some friends were camping with us and their young son came to the door and knocked :) (yeah we are saved!) ...I opened the window and said "Can you get your dad, we are locked in" He walked off and I never saw him again...and his dad never came. :R
so I called my DH and said "we cant get out".....silence...:h.."what?"....
"you heard me!":M
We laugh about it now because if I act up he threatens to do it again! :p

RE: Being intrusively inquisitive, (you might say)

Most of the time I have to take my own vehicle due to work so when the day comes to leave I load all the laundry and anything else that should go back in the house into my Tahoe. I am usually home before the boys so I start the laundry and order pizza. Once they pull up they start eating and I grab all the food out of the trailer, clean, and reload any clean linens that are ready.
DH takes the trailer back to storage, unloads the bikes and we are done!
Well except for running upstairs and booking the next trip. ;)

RE: Family traditions while camping

Our first night is always sandwich night....this tradition was started because mom is tired too ya know! :Z
Saturday nights are always steaks and the biggest baked potatos I can find (inside family joke) followed up by smores.
We crank up the bubble machine at least one day and everyone becomes 5 again. :p
Frisbee war is popular....we get about 5 going at once if we can find a large enough area.
One of our favorite things is to load up into the truck one day, drive out of the park and pick a road. We drive and explore little towns we never knew where there. We always find something interesting and the kids love the adventure.
And always cinnamon rolls on the last morning before we pack up to leave.
Happy Camping! :B

RE: Keeping the sun out!

I bought the solar shields for my vents and door...I think at Camping World. They were already pre-cut and fit perfectly. They attach with sticky velcro tape. I know some people have trouble with the tape melting in the heat but we are in Texas and have never had a problem with them. Works great and I just pull it down when we want light.
